‘Electric’ Renault ‘costs less than € 20,000’

Little by little, Renault’s plans for the future trickle in, which were developed under the leadership of the new CEO Luca de Meo. For the first time, the CEO is letting go of an interesting new type that is coming.

In a conversation with the French Caradisiac, De Meo tells more about new electric models that are coming. He is already talking about a project with “electric vehicles, with an entry price of less than € 20,000”. With the electric Twingo, Renault is already making a nice attempt, but with its basic price of € 20,590, this electric city smack still costs more than the CEO reports. Another announced car does match such promises. Dacia, part of Groupe Renault, will come with the production version of the Spring Electric Concept next year. The French car manufacturer previously promised that this would be the cheapest EV in Europe.

However, De Meo speaks of ‘vehicles’; plural so. This could mean that Renault itself will also come up with an equivalent of the electric Dacia. Technically, it already has, because the Dacia Spring is based on the electric Renault City K-ZE that the brand offers in China. Would that model also get a European passport?

However, the Meo is not finished yet, because the new leader of Groupe Renault says that the cheaper electric models will be built in France. So there is a good chance that Renault will not build the production version of the Dacia Spring – like the K-Ze – in China, but will simply bring the production to our continent. Just a little more patience.
