Euro NCAP shares Toyota Yaris test results

Due to the corona crisis, it has remained very quiet this year in the test center of the Euro NCAP safety institute. Slowly but surely, the tests are getting started again. The first scorecard of this year is shared: the all-new Toyota Yaris takes the credit.

Until now, almost all generations of the Toyota Yaris – with the exception of the first in 2000 – could count on five safety stars. This is no different with the latest generation of the compact Asian, because the white Yarissen crash five stars together. Euro NCAP even calls the Yaris the new ‘benchmark’ for the segment due to its good score. The institute is especially pleased with Toyota’s new airbag, which goes off between the front passengers in a side crash. This greatly limits the chance of contact between the two passengers.

The average score of the Yaris is 82.5 percent. The points for adult protection (86 percent) and the existing safety systems (85 percent) stand out the most. If we take the scorecards of competitors, the Yaris leaves the Volkswagen Polo (average 79 percent), Peugeot 208 (average 76 percent) and Ford Fiesta (average 74 percent) behind.
