The new Skoda CEO recently confirmed that a new generation of the Fabia will be released next year. This is the first (quite special) sign of life of the new compact Czech.
The current Skoda Fabia dates from 2015 and is still on an older basis than the MQB platform on which concern brothers Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo stand. However, the next Fabia also resides on that modular basis. Skoda already wants to test some novelties of the Fabia and takes a smart approach. One takes a large part of a Polo, with which the new Fabia will correspond to an important part, but provides it with things that appear on the Fabia. The result is the red ‘Polo’ that shines on your screen here. Among other things, the Czech plates indicate that it is actually a Skoda.
This ‘mule’ (a test car that uses an existing carriage to disguise its true nature) appears to be mainly focused on test work for the front of the Fabia. The wrapped front at least bears witness to that. Despite the camouflage, it can be seen that at least the headlights and the shape of the nose are still as we know from the Polo, so probably it is small details in the bumper work and the grille that are already somewhat according to the shape of the new one. Fabia. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make us much wiser. In any case, it is a nice confirmation of the news that Skoda CEO Thomas Schäfer released at the end of last month. The next Fabia is coming and, as we thought, making the switch to the MQB A0 platform.
