Opel has given the Crossland X a solid facelift. He also immediately loses the ‘X’ after his name. With its new nose, the Crossland follows the lead of the recently unveiled new Mokka.
While the brand new Opel Mokka is still in the spotlight, its somewhat more conservatively designed brother, the Crossland X, has also been renewed. With the facelift, the compact SUV, now simply called Crossland, is already somewhat drawn into the new Opel design language that debuted with the Mokka. The ‘Vizor’ grille running the entire width of the nose gives it a considerably different look than before. The high grille of the past has therefore disappeared, but the Crossland gets a hefty face in return, lower in the front bumper. This is partly due to the fact that the Vizor grille is completely closed. The cooling must therefore come from the opening lower in the nose. The front LED fog lamps are also new. At the rear, in these photos, the added shiny black area between the slightly modified rear lights is particularly striking. That is part of the optional black roof. A less contrasting color scheme is also possible.
You don’t have to expect any major changes in the interior. No shame, because that looks, after all, the Crossland X dates from 2017, still fresh. Most notable is the new rotatable drive mode dial. The optional ‘IntelliGrip’ that you operate with it, gives you the choice of Normal, Snow, Mud and Sand modes. Finally, you can also disable ESP with it. The adaptive traction control system must ensure that the Crossland releases its forces on the wheels on various surfaces in such a way that there is as much grip as possible. Furthermore, Opel has improved the chassis and the Crossland should feel a bit sharper, thanks to new suspension and dampers. The Crossland will also be available as a GS line already known from other models. This makes the Crossland somewhat thicker, including 16- or 17-inch black alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights and sportier seats.
In terms of engine choice, it stays with the well-known story of the Crossland X. That means that the petrol range starts with an atmospheric 1.2 with 83 hp, with the 1.2 Turbo that is available with outputs of 110 and 130 hp higher in the line. On the diesel level, there is a choice of the 110 and 120 hp 1.5 CDTI. The renewed Crossland will make its appearance in the Opel showroom early next year. Prices will be announced soon by Opel.
