For example, you can whitelist email addresses

If you receive spam, it is wise to block the sender immediately. That person will then be blacklisted and you will no longer receive unwanted emails from him or her in the future. This also works the other way around: you can mark senders as safe and this creates a so-called white list. In this article, we explain how to whitelist email addresses.

In principle, whitelisting is nothing more than putting senders on a ‘safe list’. This way you prevent important emails from a specific sender from ending up in the spam folder. This can be useful, for example, if you have placed an order with a webshop for the first time and your e-mail program treats incoming mails from this webshop as spam.

That is how it works

If you want to whitelist e-mail addresses in Gmail, it is easiest to search your inbox for an e-mail from the sender that you want to mark as safe. Drag this email to the Primarytab in your inbox. You will then be asked by Gmail whether you want to do this for future messages from that sender. click on Yes and emails from that sender will then arrive by default under the Primary tab.

If you have a series of addresses that you want to add to the safe list at once, you can click on the gear at the top right of the screen. Then go to View all settings and Filters and blocked addresses. Here you can edit any blocked e-mail addresses or remove them from the black list.

Click at the bottom of the page Create new filter. Bee From enter the email addresses you want to whitelist and press Create filter with this search. Then tick the box Never send to Spam and press Create filter to confirm.

Emails from info@computertotaal.nl will never end up in the spam folder.

Outlook

Do you use Outlook, then go to your inbox and click on the gear at the top right and then on View all Outlook settings. In the settings menu click on Spam. Here you will find a list of blocked and safe senders and domains. click on To add to whitelist addresses.

Within Outlook you will also find the option to label mailing lists as safe. For example, if you want to continue to receive updates about your favorite bands or discounts at certain web shops, you can go to Secure mailing lists add addresses.

Outlook even offers the option to create a filter, which allows you to indicate that you only trust emails that come from the addresses in the list of safe senders and domains. Keep in mind that if a sender is not on that safe list, you will not receive emails in your inbox from this sender. The danger of these types of filters is in a small corner …

Within Outlook you can set to only receive emails from safe senders.
