Volkswagen Caddy gets new entry-level version

The youngest Volkswagen Caddy has only just gotten its Dutch prices, but there is already a new entry-level version. The power of the 2.0 TDI has been reduced to 75 hp, making this entry-level ‘Economy Business’ available from € 14,700. This means that the starting price of the Caddy has fallen by € 3,000.

With the new variant of the 2.0 TDI, the number of available engines for the new Caddy will be three. The entry-level version of the diesel engine delivers 75 hp and 250 Nm of torque, which is 27 hp and 20 Nm less than the variant above it. The diesel is linked to a manual six-speed gearbox and is therefore available from € 14,700, of course excluding VAT and bpm. The delivery costs, which drive the ‘bare’ price up to € 15,500, have not yet been included. However, the stated consumption is 0.4 liters per 100 km higher than that of the other two variants: 4.9 compared to 4.5 liters per 100 km. As an Economy Business, the Caddy is also fairly sparsely equipped. The bumpers are black plastic and things like a radio and air conditioning are missing, contrary to what the press photos would have you believe.

The 75-hp Caddy is also available as a slightly less bare standard version, which is simply called ‘Caddy Cargo’. In that outfit, the car costs € 16,550. The 102 hp version, the one from € 17,700, is at least a regular ‘Caddy Cargo’ as standard.

Volkswagen will supplement the Caddy’s price list even further in the near future. The 4.85 meter long Caddy Maxi will follow, as will a TGI version that can also run on natural gas. In addition, there is also a version with 4Motion all-wheel drive on the market. The personal version of the Caddy, the Caddy Life, is not coming to the Netherlands.
