Hyundai has presented a completely new second-generation Mistra in China. The Mistra is a sedan that we do not know at all in Europe. Nevertheless, the model name has been used by Hyundai since 2013.
Hyundai sells numerous models in China that are virtually unknown in Europe. Part of it consists of sedans. Hyundai offers no fewer than eight sedans in China. From the new Elantra and the Verna to the previous generation of Elantra, the Reina, Celesta and the Mistra. The Mistra was presented in 2013, went under the knife in 2017 and has now been given a completely new generation.
The Mistra is a bit simplistic, a model that is slightly above the Elantra on the Chinese Hyundai menu. The second generation Mistra is by no means a small boy. The new sedan is 4.78 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.77 meters. It is therefore about ten centimeters larger than the new Elantra that is sold next to the previous Elantra.
The new Mistra, specially intended for the Chinese market, has, like most of the new Hyundai models, an eccentric appearance with two-layered front lighting and Hyundai’s current grille with concave lines. At the back, the light units are connected by a light bar.
Previous generation Hyundai Mistra (2013-2020)
The engine list includes a 143 hp naturally aspirated 1.8 that is linked to a seven-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. Hyundai also has a 170 hp strong 1.5 on the price list, an engine that is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. A fully electric version is also available from the Mistra (photo 4). The Mistra EV will have a closed muzzle and a 184 hp electric motor that draws its energy from a 57 kWh battery pack. According to the NEDC cycle used in China, the Mistra EV can travel about 520 kilometers on one charge.
Other sedans unknown in the Netherlands are the 4.3 meter long Reina, a budget sedan, the Celesta based on the fourth generation Elantra and the de Verna (Chinese Accent) .A step above the Mistra are the 4.66 meter long LaFesta and the almost 5 meter long Sonata.
