In the new year there will be a purchase subsidy for fully electric delivery vans. This will be comparable to the subsidy that was already available this year for electric passenger cars.
More and more electric delivery vans are on the market and the government would like to see entrepreneurs switch to them. To encourage them to do so, a purchase subsidy will be available in 2021. The purchase subsidy amounts to 10 percent of the new price of the delivery van, with a maximum of € 5,000. That message it AD. To be eligible for the subsidy, the delivery van must have an electric range of at least 100 km. Companies are also allowed to purchase a limited number of vans with this subsidy and part must be repaid if the cars are sold again within three years.
The government has set aside a total of € 185 million for this subsidy. The scheme will remain in effect up to and including 2025, but the annual amount will be slightly smaller every year. € 22 million will be available next year. In addition, as with the subsidy for passenger cars, the subsidy is available as long as there is money in that pot. It may therefore happen that the subsidy will run out early in 2021. In the following years, the subsidy pot is replenished, but each time to a slightly lower amount. Incidentally, entrepreneurs can also use the environmental investment allowance to further reduce the costs of an electric delivery van.
