Seat highlights plug-in hybrid Tarraco PHEV

Early next year, Seat will put the plug-in hybrid version of the Tarraco in the showrooms. The brand is now announcing more information about that Tarraco PHEV. A Dutch price has not yet been announced.

Highlights

  • 245 hp plug-in hybrid
  • Up to 48 kilometers of electric range
  • Two versions
  • First quarter of 2021 on the market

During the IAA in Frankfurt last year, Seat showed the Tarraco PHEV. At the time, the Spaniards already released the first information about the plug-in hybrid Tarraco, but specifications such as the electric range were not yet set in stone. Until today. Seat indicated last year that the Tarraco PHEV should be able to travel ‘more than 50 kilometers’ electrically thanks to a 12.8 kWh battery pack. That promise appears not to be completely fulfilled. It comes up to 48 kilometers on one battery charge.

Did you run the battery pack empty? On a 3.6 kW charger, the package can be filled with electricity in 3.5 hours. With a 230V connection (2.3 kW) you need about 6 hours. The powertrain is of course much more than just a battery pack. In the nose of the plug-in hybrid Tarraco lies a 150 hp 1.4 TSI cylinder petrol engine. That power source is supported by a 116 hp electric motor that is integrated in the six-speed DSG automatic transmission. The whole produces a system power of 245 hp and 400 Nm. In fact, we already know this drivetrain from the Seat Leon PHEV, Volkswagen Passat GTE and Skoda Octavia iV. The Tarraco PHEV sprints to 100 km / h in less than 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 205 km / h. In electric mode, the top speed is also 140 km / h.

Two flavors

Seat will soon supply the Tarraco PHEV as Xcellence and as FR. Basic version Style, available for the Tarraco with 150 hp 1.5 TSI, passes the nose of the plug-in hybrid. The Xcellence has 19-inch light alloy and comes as standard with Virtual Cockpit, an electrically operated tailgate, partial Alcantara upholstery, adaptive cruise control and Park Assist. The FR is the sportier alternative to the Xcellence. The Tarraro PHEV FR features a different 19-inch alloy, sports seats with integrated headrests, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, three-zone climate control, dark tinted rear windows and aluminum sports pedals. As mentioned, prices are not yet available, they will be released in the run-up to the market launch in the first quarter of 2021.
