In the Wild: Ford Granada (1984)

For the second time in a short time, a Ford Granada shines in ‘In het Wild’, also in the same version as the previous one. However, there is a good reason for this.

In these photos, for which we thank Techzle reader Arend van der Gijp warmly, we see a Granada 2.3 GL, just like earlier this year. However, he is four years younger and has had a much less difficult life. The 1980 Granada lifted onto the digital stage in November was in pretty pitiful condition. It is therefore good for us to see such a beautiful one shortly afterwards.

The fact that it looks so neat is undoubtedly due to the dedication of its owner. This specimen has been with the same owner for 11 years. The fact that the hefty Ford was simply parked at a supermarket means that it is probably still being driven and undoubtedly a lot of effort is put into keeping it available for this purpose.

When he was new, you certainly didn’t hit a mud figure with a Granada. In its day, this was almost the best-endowed Ford you could buy. Only the 2.8 (and in particular the one with injection engine and Ghia version) went one step further. With its 114 hp 2.3-V6, central door locking, a sliding roof, fog lights, characteristic wheels and tinted glass, you were with the 2.3 GL also no poor. In addition, we can imagine that the rear of the Granada gave many people the impression that a Mercedes was passing by. Compared to its successor, the Scorpio, this second generation Granada also remained relatively exclusive in terms of sales numbers. It is all the more fun to encounter such a beautiful survivor all these years later. Thanks, Arend!
