Top 10 of 2020: Most Popular Videos

Although 2020 was a special year, fortunately we could just set out to test. Fortunately, because there was no shortage of new and special cars! The Polestar 2 and the Volkswagen ID3 were major newcomers and both attracted considerable interest, but the most viewed video featured two cars that are a bit more traditional in nature.

The double tests proved particularly popular in the past year. In no less than six of the ten videos in this list, two cars faced each other. In addition, the driving impressions of the Polestar 2 and the Volkswagen ID3 were well viewed. Everyone was apparently very curious about these two newcomers. The only two videos that do not concern a test are quite different. On the one hand is Johan Muter with his Mercedes 190 which he has provided with V12 primal power, while on the other side is a Volkswagen Golf with over a million kilometers on the clock. Enough material to look back at your leisure!

10. Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake vs. Kia ProCeed – Double test

In this double test, the two five-door Shooting Brakes compete against each other. The Mercedes is better finished than the Kia, but you also pay a considerably higher price for that. Where the three-door Shooting Brake had to be defeated in the past, these variants with two additional doors can certainly count on the necessary interest.

9. Mazda CX-30 vs. Toyota C-HR – Double test

Crossovers and SUVs only seem to have grown in popularity this year. With the Mazda CX-30 and the Toyota C-HR we had a Japanese battle. The CX-30 was a completely new model, while Toyota had given the C-HR a facelift with the 180 hp High-Power Hybrid as the new range topper. Which of the two Japanese will have the longest straw?

8. Mercedes-Benz 190 6.0 V12 – 1984 – Beating Heart

Mercedes-Benz 190 V12

If you often read about a certain subject that it is not possible, the challenge to do it actually becomes a lot greater. For that reason, mechanical engineer Johan Muter saw it as a great challenge to spoon a V12 into his Mercedes-Benz 190. He says he has been working on it for about three and a half years, but the result is certainly impressive!

7. Renault Captur vs. Volkswagen T-Cross – Double test

Another double test with crossovers, albeit a size smaller than the two at number 9. The Renault Captur has been in the popular B-segment for a while and Volkswagen joined the T-Cross quite recently. With its experience, is the Captur the better choice or is the Volkswagen taking the profit?

6. Skoda Octavia Combi vs. Kia Ceed Sportswagon – Double test

Apparently the traditional station wagons appear to be more popular than the Shooting Brakes, because the Kia Ceed Sportswagon is four places higher in this ranking as the brother of the Kia ProCeed. He takes on the Skoda Octavia Combi in this double test. The Korean is slightly cheaper and offers a seven-year warranty, but is that enough to beat the Czech?

5. Volkswagen ID3 vs. Kia e-Niro – Double test

Volkswagen ID.3 vs. Kia e-Niro

It is not surprising that these two electric rascals occupy a relatively high place in this top 10. The e-Niro and the ID3 are both top sellers in the Netherlands, with the Volkswagen in first place by far. Perhaps this double test can still help you make a choice between the two EVs at the last minute. As of January 1, the addition will become less favorable again.

4. Polestar 2 – Driving impression

The Polestar 2 received a warm welcome on the website, because the driving impression is quite high in this top 10. In August Polestar only started with the delivery of the 2 in the Netherlands, but in July we were already able to take him for a round on the country’s roads.

3. Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI – 2002 – 1,003,674 km – Clock Round

The only ‘Klokje Rond’ in this list is immediately a serious one. The Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI, examined by judge Joep, covered more than a million kilometers in its eighteen-year history! Is this Golf still a little viable? Joep has a decent list of points …

2. Volkswagen ID3 – Driving impression

The Volkswagen ID3 has already taken on one of its arch rivals, the Kia e-Niro. The electric Volkswagen was not completely unknown, because in July we were already on the road with him for the first time. Then he unfortunately did not live up to the high expectations.

1. Volkswagen Golf vs. Ford Focus – Double test

volkswagen golf vs. ford focus

The most viewed video of the year contains no EV and not even a crossover or SUV! No, the Volkswagen Golf and the Ford Focus take the credit! The two C-segment hatchbacks turned out to be very evenly matched.
