The merger between Groupe PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will become reality this month. The two groups have announced this in a joint statement.
Now that shareholders of both Groupe PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have given their approval, the two can truly merge into Stellantis. The new group, which will become the fourth largest car group in the world, will become reality this month. In an official statement it is announced that the merger will be a fact on January 16. Two days later, Stellantis will go public in Milan and Paris, followed by New York (NASDAQ) on January 21.
The start-up phase, which lasted more than a year, will therefore come to an end on 16 January. In October 2019 it was announced that PSA and FCA were in talks about a merger. In July last year, it was announced that the mega-group to be formed will be called Stellantis. The biggest hurdle after that was approval by the European Commission. This concerned, among other things, the competition issue surrounding the commercial vehicle branches of the two groups. This might make Stellantis too powerful, but it was nevertheless given the green light last December. Stellantis will eventually consist of no fewer than 14 car brands, including Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep.
