Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus shows a new hypercar with a strong dose of retro influences. Interesting: the car has (in theory) a fuel cell on board.
We have known Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus for years mainly as a manufacturer of very fast (SCG 003) and striking (racing) cars. From time to time it shows its extra creative side, with creations like the Boot and a cross between a supercar and a buggy announced last year. Then there is also the extremely classically lined SCG 006. At SCG it is always a question of whether such cars actually reach the production stage, but there is plenty of ambition. Now a new study model is presented again, this SCG 009 Concept.
The 009 Concept immediately evokes associations with a number of high-profile cars from the 1970s, such as the Dome Zero, Vector W2 and the Lancia Stratos Zero. With the design of the 009, SCG is clearly committed to a revival of the aftermath of the ‘Space Age’. Then it was bursting with ‘wedge cars’, a category under which we can certainly classify this 009. Actually, only the LED strip in the low nose reveals that it is a modern car, the rest could have come straight from the late 1970s.
In terms of technology, it is a different story. It promises to be ultra-modern. SCG refers to a fuel cell, with which you should be able to drive from New York to Los Angeles with a full hydrogen tank. So roughly 4,500 km. Range anxiety is therefore not included and no doubt the performance should reflect the spectacular appearance. That promises something, at least, it all seems a bit too good to be true for the time being. SCG keeps concrete information and any serious plans for the 009 Concept under its cap. It may therefore remain a nice way to reclaim your attention. With its appearance, the 009 Concept has already managed to do that.
