Honda is expanding the Civic Type R range. In addition to the regular ‘GT’, a Sport Line for everyday use and a ‘hardcore’ performance version, the Limited Edition, appear.
Honda recently announced an update to the regular Civic Type R, the model that will be called ‘Type R GT’ from now on. There will be more models in the performance Civic family.
Civic Type R Sport Line
If you want the aggressive looks of the GT but are satisfied with performance performance that meets your daily needs, you can now order the Sport Line. The decoration includes a lower rear spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels and a black interior. Just like the GT, the new version can be ordered in the new Racing Blue paint finish. Only the German prices are still known (41,490 euros excluding Dutch taxes), the arrival to our country will be confirmed later.
Civic Type R Limited Edition
At the other end of the spectrum is the most extreme Civic Type R, the Limited Edition to date. That puts the 0-100 km / h sprint away in 5.7 seconds. Because this Type R can be used excellently on the circuit, this version is equipped with lightweight components and a stripped interior with bucket seats. To lose 47 kg in weight, the infotainment and air conditioning systems have been omitted, but the special version has all kinds of driver assistance systems. The driving dynamics have also been adjusted. As the name implies, the circulation is limited: for the European continent, only a hundred are being built. The sale starts in the summer; then the prices also follow.

The new models also benefit from the previously announced innovations for the GT. The introduction of Honda LogR, a system that records and analyzes driving data, is worth mentioning. For the first time Honda uses the smartphone for this, so that the analyzes are much more detailed. It offers three functions, all with the aim of helping to improve the driving style during daily driving up to and including the laps on the circuit.
