Andreas Mindt will lead Bentley’s design department, the brand announced today. Mindt is not exactly unknown within the Volkswagen Group. Quite a task awaits him in view of Bentley’s future.
Mindt succeeds Stefan Sielaff as Bentley’s chief designer. Sielaff will probably start working at Geely, but those rumors have not yet been officially confirmed. Prior to joining Bentley, Mindt was head of exterior design at Audi for six years. In that capacity, he has been responsible for the current design direction that Audi has taken. At Bentley, he will manage a team of fifty people and he will be responsible for the complete picture, from the exterior of the cars to the trim in the interior.
In any case, his task for the coming years is clear. Bentley wants to be fully electric by 2030 and that will undoubtedly go hand in hand with a changing design language. The brand comes with a complete family of electric models, the first of which is planned for 2025. From 2026, the brand will then only have plug-in hybrids and EVs in its model range. In any case, Mindt is looking forward to it. “Bentley is a jewel in the Volkswagen Group,” he says. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to shape Bentley’s next step towards an electric future.”
