Skoda shows new compact crossover

Skoda has a new compact crossover in the development rooms that goes by the name ‘Kushaq’. The Czechs show some images of this car. All necessary information is also released.

At the beginning of last year, Skoda pulled the canvas of the Vision In Concept during the Auto Expo in New Delhi, India. This served as a concrete forerunner of a new compact SUV that the brand would develop especially for the Indian market. It is now known that this high-legged Kushaq will be called, after the Sanskrit ‘kushak’ which would mean something like ‘king’. Skoda is now releasing a few photos showing two packed test copies. In addition, the brand releases information about the Indian newcomer.

The Kushaq will be on a specially adapted version of the MQB-A0 platform for the Indian market called MQB-A0-In. We know the MQB-Ao platform from the Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Kamiq. The Kushaq will be about 4.25 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.65 meters. The crossover enters the market with 1.0- and 1.5-liter TSI engines that send their power to the front wheels in all cases. Furthermore, a manual six-speed gearbox is standard, but a DSG automatic with seven gears is optionally available. Depending on the chosen version, the Kushaq gets things like LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. Six airbags are standard, not entirely self-evident on the Indian car market.

The Skoda Kushaq will make its public debut in March this year. The car does not come to Europe.
