‘Tesla will eventually come up with a company car’

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is still playing with the idea of a company car. He shows this during the presentation of Tesla’s financial results. It is not known what the delivery van should look like and when it will arrive.

According to Tesla blog Teslarati, Tesla CEO Elon Musk named the company car in response to a question from an analyst during the announcement of the brand’s financial results. “I think Tesla will certainly build an electric commercial vehicle at some point,” said Musk. It is not the first time that the CEO says he is playing with the idea of a Tesla company car. In 2018, he indicated on Twitter that he saw potential in a collaboration with Daimler in the commercial vehicle field. Daimler already has an electric series of delivery vans in its range.

Tesla is coming this year with the Semi, an electric truck that should roll off the line at the end of 2021. However, an electric delivery van would not be an out of the blue idea. Start-ups such as Rivian and Canoo are also working on such orderers and General Motors recently introduced the electric company car brand BrightDrop. So it seems that mutual competition in this part of the market is going to be quite fierce, not including the traditional car brands. Whether Tesla will actually go ahead with the plan for the electric company car remains to be seen.
