Land Rover: ‘Defender pick-up is possible’

Just like the original model, the Land Rover Defender is back as 90 and the longer 110. There is just not a pick-up version, but that may change.

The current Land Rover Defender, unveiled in 2019, distances itself from its ancient predecessor on many fronts. One of the many differences is that it is not available as a pick-up. You can choose from a short 90 or a longer 110, but that has given you the most fundamental options. Still, it seems there is a pickup version in the pipeline as well. Nick Collins, the man behind the modern Defender, hints at this.

Collins was present at the election of Car of the Year and that’s where the Defender came up. When asked about a possible Defender with a cargo box, Collins commented on the idea remarkably positively: “It is technically possible and there is demand for it. quotes the British Top Gear. The latter in particular can be seen as a sign that something is coming. Salient detail; the 2011 DC100 Concept, a preview of the modern Defender, was also available as ‘Sport’, a two-seater pick-up.
