Volkswagen ID5 comes in the second half of this year

The electric Volkswagen ID3 and ID4 will have a whole series of ID brothers next to them, including the ID5 and ID6. Volkswagen is now giving away that the ID5 will enter the European market in the second half of this year.

Volkswagen’s electric ID family currently consists only of the ID3 and the ID4, whereby the ID4 should in fact be seen as the SUV brother of the ID3. The electric ID4 will soon get the more spacious ID6 next to it that offers space for seven passengers, but there is more. The ID5 comes earlier, in fact an SUV to be marketed as a sportier alternative to the ID4 with a more sloping roofline. Volkswagen now indicates that the market launch of the ID5 will take place in the second half of this year. A revelation will follow even sooner!

The ID5 will soon roll off the line in Zwickau alongside the ID3 and ID4. Volkswagen says it has already produced a pre-series of the ID5, but unfortunately only shows an image showing the ID3 and ID4 (photo 4). In September last year, Techzle could already exclusively announce that the ID5 would become the ‘coupé brother’ of the ID4. The fact that the ID5 shares its modular base with the ID3 and ID4 also means that we can already say something about the powertrains with which the car may become available. Count on versions with a 55 kWh, 62 kWh and 77 kWh battery pack and on electric motors with outputs of 180 hp, 204 hp, 265 hp and 306 hp. Volkswagen has not yet put an official reveal date on the ID5.
