Opel Vivaro reaches milestone: million built

The garlands are hung in Rüsselsheim: the Opel Vivaro has passed the 1 million units built!

The millionth Vivaro has rolled off the line. That is of course reason for a party at Opel. The Vivaro was unveiled in 2001, then as a counterpart to the Renault Trafic. The second generation also shared its base with the French. With the takeover of Opel by PSA, a different era was heralded for the Vivaro, as the latest generation, unveiled in 2019, is a brother of the Citroën Jumpy, the Peugeot Expert, the Fiat Talento and Toyota ProAce.

Over the years, various variants were reviewed. There were of course the regular orderers in different sizes, open chassis versions for superstructure, but also passenger versions. The current Vivaro also has personal versions, although the more luxurious version now listens to the name Zafira Life. The biggest achievement for the Vivaro in recent years was the arrival of an electric version. The Vivaro-e entered the market last year and has a 136 hp electric motor and a battery pack that, according to the WLTP cycle, can reach 330 km on one battery charge. In addition, it is of course also available with a 100 hp or 120 hp 1.5 diesel engine and a 122 hp, 150 hp or 180 hp 2.0.

In the Netherlands, the Opel Vivaro has already been sold about 76,000 times, according to Opel. A quick calculation shows that roughly 7.6 percent of all Vivaros ever built ended up in our country. You bet that, if it is up to Opel, the two millionth Vivaro will eventually become a fact. Although it is still the question whether that will take another 20 years.
