The motorhome sector seems to be heading for a very successful year. In the first two months of this year, considerably more was sold than last year, which of course has everything to do with the corona crisis.
A total of 327 new motorhomes were registered in January and February, the Bovag reports. That is 13 percent more than last year. The used motor home market is showing similar growth. The trade accounted for 1,964 used copies, 12 percent more than in the same period in 2020. Only when it comes to trade between private individuals, there is no growth: 2,141 units, against 2,176 last year.
Great news for the motorhome trade, but that success seems to be at the expense of caravan sales. In the first two months of this year, a total of 549 new caravans were sold, 26.5 percent less than in 2020.
Corona proof
The growth of camper sales did not come out of the blue, because campers have been doing well for years. In addition, many people see the RV as a corona-resistant refuge in times when long-distance air travel and other forms of vacations are very difficult. In 2020, the sales total of 2019 was therefore already equaled in October. If you’re planning to get one for yourself, you can search online for auburn rv dealers where you can choose from a wide variety of RVs.
Outlook even better
For this year, the Bovag foresees growth that is even greater than what the motorhome market is currently showing. The camping season has yet to begin and from March 3 showrooms can be reopened by appointment, so all lights are green for even more success. That success is not limited to the Netherlands. This also awaits a difficult task for the motorhome builders, who are said to be already producing to the maximum and also have to deal with delivery problems as a result of corona measures.
