New Skoda Fabia in the picture

Skoda has a completely new generation of Fabia in the development rooms, a car that the Czechs are bringing back to the digital stage in wrapped test suits today.

Skoda will soon be pulling the curtain on the completely new fourth-generation Fabia. Skoda has already shown a packed copy of its new Fiesta competitor and today the Czechs are firing a series of photos taken during test work at the viewer. We don’t get any wiser from it, although the information that Skoda releases about the trailer visible in the photos offers an interesting insight into the test work.

More than once a trailer is visible behind a packed test sample of a new car. Skoda also hangs a cart behind the new Fabia, but also explains the purpose of that trailer. According to Skoda, the trailer brakes its own wheels based on input from the test drivers. Various driving conditions, including uphill driving, can be simulated via this road. This is, of course, just one of the many tests the new Skoda Fabia undergoes. The car is tested at temperatures from -30 to +45 degrees Celsius, among other things. Skoda also says it has subjected the Fabia to no less than 200 crash tests. In addition, the operation of the airbags is tested at temperatures from -35 to even 90 degrees Celsius. Skoda says it has brought a total of about 300 Fabia flop bags to a controlled ‘explosion’.

At its generation change, the new Skoda Fabia is introduced to the MQB A0 platform, which concert brothers Polo, Ibiza and Audi A1 have been using for several years. The new Fabia is 4.11 meters long, 1.78 meters wide and 1.46 meters high. If we place it next to the current Polo, it is striking that the new Fabia is 5 centimeters longer. The wheelbase of the Fabia (2.56 meters) exceeds that of the Polo by one centimeter. This provides the Fabia with a larger luggage space, among other things. The luggage compartment of the new Skoda Fabia has a capacity of 380 liters. The Polo kicks it to 351 liters. The new Fabia will be available in the Netherlands with 95 hp and 110 hp 1.0 TSIs. The international engine list will also include 65 hp and 80 hp 1.0 MPi’s and a 150 hp 1.5 TSI. It remains to be seen whether these engines will also be available in the Netherlands.
