Audi has interrupted the production of the fully electric e-tron due to a shortage of battery packs. This is confirmed by a spokesperson for the press agency on Monday Bloomberg.
According to Audi, production has stopped in Brussels since last Thursday. The problem is the supply from Poland of battery packs from South Korean supplier LG Chem.
Previously, this forced Jaguar to reduce the production of the electric I-Pace. Mercedes-Benz would have the same problem with the construction of the EQC, but that was contradicted earlier this month.
Today the production of the Audi e-tron must be resumed. German Handelsblatt reported that the brand wants to build 80,000 units this year, but that LG Chem can deliver half the number of battery packs.
The e-tron was the most registered electric car in the Netherlands last December after the Tesla Model 3. The model is now available as 50 quattro and 55 quattro. The S version will be added later this year, which accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds thanks to three electric motors and 320 kW (435 hp).
In addition to the regular e-tron, the e-tron Sportback will soon follow with a lower roofline and a sloping back.
