The Cupra Tavascan goes into production, the word is out. We can expect the third model to be delivered purely as Cupra in three years.
About two months ago, Cupra CEO Wayn Griffiths already hinted to Techzle that a production version of the Tavascan Concept from 2019 is ‘high on the wish list’ for the spin-off from Seat. The bullet is now through the church. The car will bear the same name as the concept version and will be Cupra’s third in-house model after the fully electric Born and the already available Formentor.
The Tavascan rests on the MEB platform of the Volkswagen Group and becomes a sportier alternative to the Volkswagen ID4 and Skoda Enyaq. Due to its sporty approach, the Cupra will at least equal the top versions of those two cars, so we can count on two electric motors that together deliver 306 hp, linked to a 77 kWh battery pack. Milder versions are also likely, although it is likely that Cupra does not extend the range as far down as Volkswagen and Skoda.
Cupra Tavascan Concept
As was the case with the Cupra Born, the concept car probably already gives a pretty sharp picture of what the final Tavascan will look like. Think about something less heavy bumper work and you more or less have it in front of you. Cupra is building the Tavascan in Barcelona and, as mentioned, it will be on the market in 2024.
