The Mercedes-Benz Citan will have a successor that shares its technical basis with the Renault Kangoo, just like the current model. This time the electric Kangoo ZE also gets a little brother with a strong nose. Mercedes-Benz comes with the eCitan, a car of which new photos are now available.
Daimler posts a handful of photos of a wrapped version of the Mercedes-Benz eCitan, the all-electric version of the yet to be unveiled new Citan. The new compact orderer from Mercedes-Benz will be presented in the second half of this year.
The current Citan shares its base with the outgoing Renault Kangoo generation. A new generation of the Kangoo was presented at the end of last year. That new Kangoo also gets a fully electric ZE version next to it. The Citan was never delivered in electric form, but the soon-to-be new Citan will come as an EV. Technical specifications of both the new Kangoo ZE and the eCitan visible in these photos are not yet available.

The fact that Mercedes-Benz calls the electric Citan ‘eCitan’ and not EQ Citan, of course, has everything to do with the fact that the Citan is a commercial vehicle. The electric version of the Vito also has an ‘e-tje’ in front of its model name. The electric version of the V-class passenger bus does fall under the EQ label.
