Mini has presented a very special version of the Mini Electric. We are introduced to the Pacesetter inspired by JCW. Not only the name of the car is quite something, the exterior also makes tongues. Mini uses the Electric Pacesetter as a safety car for the FIA Formula E World Championship.
The Mini Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW is a safety car based on the Mini Electric. Now the role that the fiercely decked out Mini plays is of course already interesting, but the Pacesetter probably has a double agenda that is even more important. Mini hinted at the arrival of electric John Cooper Works models at the end of last year and the fact that the Pacesetter has the addition ‘inspired by JCW’ after its name could just mean that Mini is giving a more concrete signal of the arrival with its safety car. of an exciting electric JCW.

The Mini Electric Pacesetter was developed together with BMW Motorsport and has, among other things, quite a muscular appearance. The wheel arches are turned on, the front and rear bumpers are completely new and the car is laced with splitters and spoilers and lips. Those attached wheel arches, side skirts and the bumper work with square openings you may see in the future in a toned down form on a JCW version of the Mini Electric. Whether that also applies to the heavy spoiler at the top of the rear remains to be seen. In any case, the flashing lights on it do not return to a production model. Mini’s electric attention grabber stands on special four-spoke 18-inch large alloy and is studded with orange accents. Fun fact: the wheel arch extensions are, just like the rear spoiler, manufactured with a 3D printer.

The interior has also been destroyed. Practically the entire interior has been stripped. The Mini Electric Pacesetter still has two front seats with six-point seat belts and a steering wheel with the digital instrument panel behind it. According to Mini, the handlebar has a shock-absorbing carbon fiber core. The central display has had to make way for a carbon fiber panel. The door panels are made of the same lightweight stuff and include handles to open the window and door. The door is closed via a fabric loop. The heavy-duty Mini also has a roll cage.

The Pacesetter puts 1,230 kilos in the bowl, making it about 130 kilos lighter than a regular Mini Electric. The drivetrain has also been slightly modified. The electric motor delivers 184 hp, just like in the Mini Electric, but is 10 Nm stronger with 280 Nm. The recalibrated powertrain takes the Pacesetter inspired by JCW to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds. The original needs 7.3 counts for the same sprint. The sprint from 80 to 120 km / h does the Electric Pacesetter in 4.3 seconds where the regular version needs 4.6 seconds. Mini gives the Electric Pacesetter a wider track and adapted braking and also puts the car on special Michelin Pilot Sport tires, which also serve as front tires for Formula E cars.
