Techzle 13 will be in the shops from tomorrow or on your doorstep this week. What are you reading this week in our packed magazine?
Normally, as a sports car enthusiast, you will be best served if you get our monthly GTO magazine, but this week Techzle will be the right place for you. To start, we put two hot hatches next to each other that do things quite differently. The Ford Focus ST simply draws its power from a large engine, while the Cupra Leon combines electric power with petrol power to achieve sporty performance. Time to find out whether that could be the salvation of the sporty hatchback, or whether we prefer to enjoy the pure power of a car like the Focus ST until the last minute.
A car that, in any case, still runs purely on raw fuel power is the brand new BMW M3 Competition. It’s hard to stop talking about the appearance of the new M3, but how it drives is of course even more important. Roy Kleijwegt has the honor to discover whether the new M3 can keep its name high in that regard.
Electrification is really not only the way to a cleaner fleet, as Peugeot proves with the 508 PSE. With this sporty plug-in hybrid, the French are pushing their own boundaries when it comes to power. A large sporty Peugeot is also something we do not really have pictures of, so that naturally requires an extensive first acquaintance.
The Volvo 340, which is in the spotlight this week, proves that old cars can also provide great sporty surprises in ‘Beating Heart’. Naturally, the 340 was anything but sporty, so a lot of work has been done to change that. The 92 horsepower that this 340 had of itself is amply exceeded. A true wolf in sheep’s clothing is the result!
By the way, you really don’t have to pass up this song if you are interested in more modest cars. Because modesty, for example, is perfect for the Dacia Spring. This electric newcomer is in one fell swoop the cheapest new electric car in the country and of course you have to make some concessions. Cornelis Kit talks about what you get for a reasonable price.
Finally, Klokje Rond focuses on a Toyota that did not really live up to the good name of the brand: the Avensis 2.2 D4-D. Not that the customers suffered any damage, the leniency scheme was more than generous. Despite its notorious reputation, we have one guest who has no less than 550,000 km of experience behind us. That is worthy of praise, but whether that also applies to the current state of the Avensis?
All this and more can be read in the latest Techzle, which will be in stores this week from Wednesday. Would you rather not go out? Order from the easy chair the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your door within two working days.
