It is now possible to save an Instagram live stream after the recording. In this article we explain how it works.
Save Instagram live stream
If you previously lost a live stream on Instagram forever after you closed it, you can now just keep it. Facebook’s photo service announced this on Monday. The live streams will still disappear from the network, so followers can no longer watch it, but whoever films it can keep it. According to Instagram, this is especially useful if something happens during the broadcast that you want to keep or share.
Saving is simple. You need the latest version of Instagram for it, then follow the steps below.
- Open the Instagram app;
- Tap ‘Your Story’ in the top left and start a live stream;
- When you are done, you stop using the button at the top right;
- After the stream is closed, a ‘Save’ button will appear in the top right of the screen,
- The video will be saved to your phone, but will disappear from the Instagram app.
Forgetting has disappeared
When you save the live stream, you only keep the footage. Interaction you may have had with the viewers will not be included. Think of reactions from others to which you respond and hearts that appear on the screen. A bit inconvenient is that you can only save the video if the recording is ready immediately. If you forget to keep it and tap the window away, you will be too late and the images will be lost.
Instagram live streams
Since the end of January, it has been possible to start a live stream from the Instagram app. You can read how that works in our article about the Instagram Stories livestream. The option is possible from the Story function of Instagram and when you start a stream, your followers will be notified by means of a notification.
