Facelift for Seat Ibiza

Facelift for Seat Ibiza

The Arona has been given a new front, but also the Ibiza with which that crossover shares its base, cannot escape a facelift. The revised Seat Ibiza is very subtle on the outside, but, like the Arona, gets a completely new interior. In the summer, the refreshed Seat Ibiza comes to the Netherlands.

The Seat Ibiza blew out four candles at the beginning of this year, which means that Seats variation on the Polo theme is ready for a facelift. For example, every Ibiza now has LED lighting all around, although full-LED headlights are still optional. The external adjustments are otherwise quite brief. There are new alloy wheels on the compact hatchback and the Ibiza model name now appears centrally on the tailgate. Seat uses a font that we already see on the back of the Tarraco, Leon and renewed Arona. Just like that refined Arona, the Ibiza also gets a Seat emblem in two chrome colors. Furthermore, the Spaniard will soon be available in two new paint colors.

Inside there are bigger changes. Just like the renewed Arona, the facelifted Ibiza will get a new interior that, according to Seat, is constructed from a finer soft-touch material. The infotainment system previously integrated in the center console moves up one floor and now protrudes from the dashboard. The smallest infotainment screen measures 8.25 inches in diameter. The larger version has 9.2 inches. The software of the system has also been updated. From now on, smartphones can also be connected to the system wirelessly via Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Whoever says ‘Hola Hola’ can then give commands to the system.

The Ibiza also benefits from the arrival of a leather-covered steering wheel that is standard on the Xcellence and FR models and which is optional on the Style. LED mood lighting has been placed around the new ventilation grilles in the FR and Xcellence versions. No facelift without the arrival of current safety systems, so the Ibiza is now also available with Travel Assist, Lane Assist and traffic sign recognition. Side Assist has been improved and the Ibiza is optionally equipped with High Beam Assist.

engines

The renewed Ibiza is now no longer available with diesel engines, so the 95 hp and 115 hp 1.6 TDIs are no longer available. The 80 hp and 93 Nm strong naturally aspirated 1.0 MPI remains the entry-level engine. That always linked to a manual five-speed petrol engine has the 95 hp 1.0 TSI above it, which is also only available with the manual five-speed gearbox. One step above that is the 110 hp variant, which is available with a manual six-speed gearbox and with a DSG7 automatic transmission. The 150 hp 1.5 TSI is again the most powerful petrol engine. Seat also puts a 90 hp 1.0 TGI on the international delivery list, a 160 Nm delivering three-cylinder that likes both petrol and natural gas (CNG) and which is always linked to a manual six-speed gearbox. Unfortunately, the Netherlands is deprived of it.

Prices and specifications for the Dutch market will follow soon.
