‘Ford Evos not for Europe’

‘Ford Evos not for Europe’

The Ford Evos is a new D-segment crossover that recently made its public debut in China. Remarkable news: for the time being it seems that the Evos will not leave the Chinese borders via the official channels.

It is well known that the Mondeo will no longer have a long life. The Ford Mondeo will leave the European market in March next year. The car is a victim of the declining popularity of traditional D-segment sedans, hatchbacks and station wagons. Citroen returns to the D segment with the more crossover-like C5 X and the recently presented Ford Evos will eventually succeed the Mondeo in China. That, like the C5 X, more crossover-like D-segmenter, however, seems to be purely a Chinese affair.

Ford Evos spyshots Europe

Mike Levine, Ford Motor Company’s chief of Product Communications, says on Twitter that the Ford Evos “[…] only for Chinese customers “is and that Ford currently has no plans to offer the car elsewhere. That is striking. The Ford Evos has already been caught on European soil in a test suit. The same also applies to the Volkswagen ID6. a car for which no European passport appears to be in the making for the time being.

The Ford Evos, as presented in China, was developed by the Changan Ford partnership and has a front end design that matches that of the specially facelifted versions of the Escort and Focus for the Chinese market. It is still possible that at a later stage Ford will bring an Evos-like with a different design and more geared to the European market under a different name to our part of the world. However, nothing is known about this yet.
