The ink of the brochure of the European version of the Honda HR-V is not yet dry when the crossover is already introduced in Japan with a whole range of external extras from Mugen. The chance that the HR-V will become available in Europe with this optical finery is nil.
Honda presented the version of the all-new HR-V intended for the European market this week, but the car has been known for a while in Japan. That is also the reason that the crossover called Vezel there has already been optically enhanced by in-house tuner Mugen. Anyone hoping for extra power for the new crossover should be disappointed. It is purely about appearance.
Mugen, founded by the son of Honda founder Soichiro Honda, hangs the Vezel / HR-V full of special light metal, modified mirror caps, red piping, windshields for the side windows. Of course, custom bumper work – available in various flavors – is also part of the Mugen party. The HR-V is even available with an extra rear spoiler that does not have a place at the top, but at the bottom of the rear window. Sideskirts? Of the lot, the same goes for special inserts in the grille and of course things like Mugen floor mats and a range of Mugen logos cannot be missed.
In Japan, the Vezel is available with only a petrol engine, in addition to being a hybrid e: HEV. In Europe, the HR-V is only available as a hybrid. You can read more about this here. The new Honda HR-V will hit the Dutch market at the end of this year. Prices will follow in the run-up to the market launch.
