The BMW M2 is already an absolute fun machine in every variant, regardless of whether you take a seat in the sports seats of the regular version, the M2 Competition or the M2 CS. BMW’s M division is reportedly working on an electric version of the M2 that will make all existing versions of the coupé the snot before the eyes.
The normally well-informed English car magazine Car writes that BMW’s M department has a fully electric M2 in the development rooms, a car that is still going through life under the project name Katharina. The electric M2, which according to BMW’s naming strategy may be called iM2, was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of BMW’s M division next year, according to Car.
The electric BMW M2 would be a kind of birthday present from BMW M to itself. According to Car, the ‘iM2’ would receive ‘a megawatt’ of power. So 1,000 kW, a bizarre amount of power, which can be converted to 1,360 hp. The electric BMW M2 would be able to sprint to a speed of 100 km / h in about 2 to 2.5 counts. According to Car, there are already rumors that Project Katharina can complete a lap on the famous Nürburgring-Nordschleife in less than 7 minutes. Anyone who is already at the ready with the wallet will still have to be patient. For the time being, the electric BMW M2 would be purely a project and no official green light would have been given for the arrival of the car.
