You can now live stream with YouTube apps. This means that you share your games, creative expressions and other things with the world live.
Live streaming with YouTube apps
It was already possible to live stream via the camera on your iPhone with YouTube on iOS. Now it is also possible to share what is on your screen with the world. This function was already available for Android users, but now you can also use it on iOS.
YouTube uses Apple’s ReplayKit for this. This is a framework that records both video from the screen and audio from the microphone. Apps must support this framework before you can stream the app on YouTube.
More improvements for live streams
In addition to the great option to stream apps, there are even more improvements. So now you no longer need a thousand subscribers to start a stream. A hundred followers is enough.
In addition, YouTube uses a new technology, so there is hardly any delay between you and the viewers. If you select the ultra-low-latency option in the settings, it will only take a few seconds.
More options for moderation
For people who often do live streams, it is now also easier to moderate the chat. The alt / option button on the keyboard pauses the chat, allowing the streamer to delete or approve messages. It is also possible to make someone else a moderator.
Streamers also get the option to turn on an automatic moderation system. YouTube will then hold onto potentially nasty posts until the streamer has the option to approve or hide them. However, it is still unclear whether this also works well with Dutch responses.
The new features are rolling out worldwide from today. So make sure to install the latest version of the app from the link below.
