Attention fans of Max Verstappen. From now on you can watch Formula 1 via AirPlay and stream matches from iPhone or iPad to your television. That’s how you do that.
Watch Formula 1 via AirPlay
You can watch Formula 1 in the Netherlands via Ziggo, or via the official F1 TV app. With the latter you can not only watch the races, but also follow the training sessions, for example. Extra cool is that you can now stream matches to your TV.
All you need is the official F1 TV app, an Apple device and a TV with AirPlay. Check? This is how you watch matches on the big screen:
- Open the F1 TV app on your iPhone or iPad;
- Go to the competition and choose which camera angle you want to view;
- Tap the cast icon in the top right of the screen to send the race to your television;
- Voilà , now you can enjoy F1 on your TV.

The quality of the streams is very nice. You watch the races in full HD with a maximum of 50 frames per second. Previously this was only 25, which made the image look less smooth.
An official F1 TV app for the Apple TV will be released later this year. Until then, you can already AirPlay matches to your TV. Do you have a Chromecast at home? Then read on our sister site Android Planet how to live stream Formula 1.

Free for Ziggo Sport Totaal subscribers
To watch Formula 1 on your iPhone, you need a subscription to F1 TV Pro. With this paid package you can watch live matches, you get access to all onboard cameras of cars and it is possible to watch the F2, F3 and Porsche Supercup. F1 TV Pro costs 7.99 euros per month, or 64.99 euros per year.
If you have a subscription to Ziggo Sport Totaal, you get F1 TV Pro for free. Ziggo customers without the sports package still have to pay separately for the official Formula 1 app.
