New Toyota Tundra on the way

The Toyota Tundra is one of the older models in Toyota’s US model range. Luckily, pick-up enthusiasts won’t have to wait long for a new generation of Toyota’s competitor to cars like the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado.

As far as pick-ups are concerned, Toyota only has the Hilux on the menu in the Netherlands. In the United States, Toyota has the Tacoma and Tundra in its range, of which the second is by far the largest. Where the Tacoma is technically comparable to the Hilux, the Tundra is the car that has to compete with bakers like the Ram 1500, Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado. The current Tundra was presented in 2007 and, after a few trimming sessions, has now been around for 14 years. Quite a long time, especially for a model in an extremely popular segment in the United States. Toyota is now finally giving the first sign of life for a completely new third generation Tundra.

Toyota does not yet say exactly when the American consumer can count on a new Tundra. Toyota’s new largest pick-up, like a large part of its competitors, seems to be getting hefty and angularly designed lighting. In the center of the grille is an extra horizontal LED strip and above it we find three orange-colored LEDs. Ford gives the Raptor version of the F-150 similar orange LEDs. With its generation change, the Tundra will be placed on a completely new platform, a basis that could just bring hybrid technology to the Tundra.
