Restore Recycle Bin? That’s how you do that

You empty the Windows 10 recycle bin a hundred times, but the files will still be there. Not that it affects the functionality of your computer, but the thought drives you crazy. Something might be damaged and you need to restore the Recycle Bin.

FixWin

The easiest way to fix a damaged recycle bin is through an external tool: FixWin. This is a free tool from the unsurpassed The Windows Club. You can run this program from a USB stick and it does not need to be installed. Right click the FixWin.exe and select Run as administrator. Then choose the group in the left column File Explorer. And here you use the button Fix next to the item Reset Recycle Bin, Recycle Bin is corrupted. Wait a while for the repair to complete. All files and folders in the recycle bin will be deleted by this procedure. Restart the computer and Windows will automatically create a new recycle bin.

After the restart, Windows will create a new Recycle Bin.

To safe mode

If that fails, try emptying the trash after booting into safe mode. In this mode, only the components that are strictly necessary for the PC to work will be loaded. To do this, go through the menu Start to Settings. And then click on Editing and security. In the left column click on System recovery so that you are right at the part Advanced boot options can. Click in the Advanced boot options the button Restart now. Then a blue screen appears where you hit the button Resolving problems used.

In the blue screen, choose Troubleshoot.

F4

This will bring you to a second blue screen Advanced options and there is the button Startup Settings. In the next blue screen with the title Startup Settings you first get a list of all the ways how you Windows 10 can boot. Click the button in this window Restart. Then you will get the window Startup Settings with the function keys F1 to F12. Here you can read that you can boot in safe mode (without network) by pressing the function key F4. Do that and log into your PC. You can do that if you put the words in all four corners of the desktop Safe mode see standing. Now empty the trash. When you restart the computer afterwards, it will go back to normal mode.

This screen tells you to press F4 now.
