Tikkie introduces money transfer to 06 numbers: this is how it works

From now on you no longer need an account number from someone to transfer money to it. Tikkie now lets you transfer money with only the 06 number of the recipient.

Pay a Tikkie via 06-number

ABN AMRO unveils a handy update for the popular Tikkie app. Because you enter both your account number and your 06-number when setting up the app, the app knows which bank account is linked to a telephone number.

With this information it is possible to transfer money directly to Tikkie users in your address book, even if you do not know their bank account number. As a result, you no longer have to wait for a payment request, but you can independently choose to transfer an amount in this way.

The function is currently being tested among a small group of users, after which it will be available to everyone. According to ABN AMRO, the general rollout will happen soon.

Pay with Tikkie in web shops

To make Tikkie even more widely usable, the app is also added as an option in web shops. Web shops can now add a Tikkie button to the payment options. If you click on this, you will receive a text message containing a Tikkie payment link.

Since the launch of Tikkie in June 2016, more than 1.2 billion euros has been repaid via the app by four million users. Although other Dutch banks have also launched similar apps, Tikkie remains the most popular. Would you like to know more about the use of Tikkie and what you can do with it?
