Maserati is working on a new SUV in the luxury mid-segment: the Grecale. The little brother of the Levante is now more visible than ever before.
None other than Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares visited the factory in Italy where Maserati is building the MC20 this week. That visit did not stop at poking around the production line, as Tavares was handed the keys from a Grecale. A well-packed copy of course, because the SUV is still in the mysterious development phase. Maserati’s resident photographer took two pictures of Tavares’ ride, making the Grecale a lot easier to see than the last time, despite the camouflage.
It is noticeable that the Grecale gets a pretty hefty face with a wide grille and headlights that are quite flat on the nose. It almost has some Jaguar-like lines. Further to the rear we find less big surprises and that probably also has to do with the base: which the Grecale reportedly shares with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. It will then be the last car on the Giorgio base. Technical information still keeps Maserati firmly against the chest. Carefully count on the same 330 hp mild-hybrid 2.0 petrol engine as from the Ghibli Hybrid. A fully electric variant would also be in the barrel, but even then the news has not yet been brought out by Maserati itself. We expect the unveiling of the Grecale later this year.
