The week is over and that means a fresh app overview is waiting for you! You should not miss out on these new apps, games and updates. The best iOS apps of week 18 can be found here.
The best iOS apps at a glance
The App Store is working overtime every week to process the endless stream of new apps and updates. However, you hardly notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. If your iPhone or iPad could use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place for the best iOS apps.
1. Cineville
True movie buffs can indulge themselves in the new Cineville app. Cineville has been around for a long time, but now it finally has its own app. With a Cineville pass you can go to the movies unlimited for a fixed amount per month. With this it focuses more on arthouse films and smaller movie theaters, and thus a counterpart to Pathé Unlimited, for example.
If you have such a Cineville pass, you will find it in the app. Easy, because after you have looked at what’s going on in the app’s extensive agenda, you can scan your pass at a movie theater. In addition to films that are shown in the area, you will also find background information and trailers. It is not yet possible to buy tickets in the app.
2. Facebook
If you’ve opened Facebook in the past few days, you may have been shocked. Facebook has been given a completely new design, and the iconic blue corporate identity has disappeared. This has given way to a more minimalist design with lots of white and a modest logo.
With this update also comes a content change. The focus is more on groups and events. You’ll soon get more updates from groups you’re a member of in your timeline. Also, Facebook regularly suggests interesting communities based on your interests and events near you.
3. Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs
Angry Birds is back with a vengeance. The wildly popular game is making its comeback in augmented reality form. Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs has the same setup as previous Angry Birds games, but lets you play in AR.
Everywhere you are, you can scan the environment and the angry birds and pigs appear virtually in front of you. AR comes in handy at a difficult level. This way you walk around the game, so you know exactly where to aim to win the level. You need an iPhone 6S or newer to play the game.
4. Twitter
The European Parliament elections are coming up and Twitter is already preparing for it with a small but important update. The app has introduced a feature that makes it possible to report tweets that can be misleading during election time.
This mainly concerns tweets spreading misinformation about where, when and how to vote in the EU. Twitter wants to fight fake news with such functions and prevent political discussions on the social medium from becoming polluted.
