The 4 best iOS apps in the App Store from week 21 – 2019

The week is over and that means a fresh app overview is waiting for you! You should not miss out on these new apps, games and updates. The best iOS apps of week 21 can be found here.

The best iOS apps at a glance

The App Store is working overtime every week to process the endless stream of new apps and updates. However, you hardly notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. If your iPhone or iPad could use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place for the best iOS apps.

1. Google Maps

If you feel like grabbing a movie, you no longer have to scour all the websites of cinemas in your area. Simply search for “cinema” in Google Maps and tap a movie theater near you. In the latest version of the app, the corresponding showtimes for films will then appear, under the heading ‘Show times’.

It is possible to watch the cinema times up to six days in advance. These are conveniently shown per film. Did you find a movie? Then tap on a time to buy a ticket right away. Google Maps shows an overview with the date and time, but also provides a direct link to the correct web page of the cinema to score tickets in advance.

2. Instagram

Instagram now also supports horizontal videos on IGTV. This is the part where users can put longer videos. For a long time it was only possible to post vertical videos here. The app was regularly told by creators that they also wanted to post horizontal content, and with this update Instagram is responding.

You can reach IGTV by tapping the TV icon at the top in Instagram or via the separate IGTV App. When you scroll through IGTV, you don’t immediately see which video is horizontal or not. The thumbnails remain vertical.

3. Get Forward

Word Forward has been in the App Store for a number of years, but has been completely revamped. At first glance, the game is a word search, but in practice a lot more difficult. The goal is to make the 25 different letters disappear.

You do this by searching for words, but also with tactical game options. Swap letters, shuffle them up, replace them with other letters, or in the worst case scenario, throw a bomb on them. The right strategy is rewarded with a long, clear word that makes you solve the puzzle in one go. So keep thinking ahead.

4. Steam Chat

After the Steam Link app, the Steam Chat app also makes an appearance in the App Store. The Steam Chat app brings the rich chat feature of the desktop version of Steam to your iPhone. In the app you will find your friends list and you can start a chat by simply tapping another user.

You can see at a glance who is online and/or willing to play a game together. In addition, you can easily organize your friends through favorites and categories. The notifications you receive from the chat can also be personalised. Customize the type of notification you get per friend, group conversation, or chat channel.
