The Tokyo Motor Show is definitely scheduled for 2023, Akio Toyoda, CEO of Toyota and chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), announced in a press conference. With that, the Japanese auto show follows its usual biennial interval.
Toyoda made in front of various media, including Automotive News, announced that the next edition of the Tokyo Motor Show will take place in two years. He has not yet given a definitive date. Usually the event is scheduled for the fall. Toyoda has already revealed that the theme of the fair will be ‘Green and Digital’, with which he wants to usher in the necessary changes for the future. “There is still a long way to go to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050,” he said. “This theme represents the beginning of that path and setting a course for the medium and long term.”
Toyoda hopes to include other sectors at the next Tokyo Motor Show as well. He also aims for public presence, one of the main reasons why the fair was canceled this year. The JAMA did not like an edition without an audience. “Hopefully the 2023 edition will not face such obstacles,” said Toyoda. “I believe the show is going to be a big event where people can finally get back together for the first time in a few years.” In 2019, there were still 1.3 million visitors to the Tokyo Motor Show.
