Tesla is once again experiencing difficulties building its European factory near Berlin in Germany. This time it concerns an official objection from environmental groups.
We have not yet asked Mr. Musk, but it could just be that the world-famous super-entrepreneur is now very disappointed with the choice to place the European Tesla factory in Germany. Since that choice was made, Tesla has had to deal with complaints about felling trees, German bureaucracy, fear for the habitat of animals, objections from local residents, complaints from environmental groups and even arson by far-left activists.
Toxic gases
A battle between environmentalists and the builder of electric cars may seem strange, but the German environmental clubs also like to show their radical side. Automotive News Europe reports that unspecified environmental groups have filed an official objection to the construction of the ‘gigafactory’, which will include a large number of batteries and the Tesla Model Y.
According to these groups, it has not been made sufficiently clear what measures Tesla is taking against the escape of toxic gases in its EV and battery factory. Tesla’s license application would also have been changed due to the desire to also produce battery cells there, so that the license in question no longer applies.
The original plan was to open the Tesla Gigafactory in Berlin this summer, but it became clear earlier that this will not happen until the end of this year at the earliest.
