Pet app: 5 playful apps for your four-legged friend

When you think of a smart home, you may think of all kinds of technical feats, but perhaps not one of the most important parts of your household: your four-legged friend. Whether you have an adventurous cat or a sleepy house dog, there are plenty of apps available to make your furry friend’s life just that little bit better.

1. Cat Alone 2

Cat Alone 2 proves that cats can play too. This app is packed with games that will keep your furry friend entertained for hours. Cat Alone 2 tries to get your cat’s attention by letting feathers, spiders and mice walk across the screen of your smartphone or tablet.

Your pet then naturally tries to grab the object or animal by tapping the touchscreen. Speaking of which: it is not a superfluous luxury to use a screen protector when you start up Cat Alone 2. If you don’t, you are almost certain of scratches on your screen.

2. Doggy Dating

As you might expect from the name, DoggyDating is a dating app, but for your loyal lobbies. On the basis of a profile you can send your dog on a date (a joint walk) with other four-legged friends. You can also check which DoggyDates are planned in your area via the handy card. You can then contact the other owners via a chat window.

Don’t let the name distract you, because DoggyDates is much more than an app to socialize your dog with other dogs of their own kind. From an Amber Alert for finding missing dogs, fun walking routes, a bargain corner to a help forum: everything is there. DoggyDates is therefore best described as an all-in-1 app for dog owners.

3. First Aid for Cat and Dog

In the category “hopefully I’ll never need it”: First Aid for Cats and Dogs. This app is packed with advice on what to do if your dog or cat continues to vomit, has broken its leg, or got stuck on a fence and suffered a deep cut.

In the app you will also find all kinds of nutritional advice, the nearest vets and you can add your dog or cat and keep all kinds of information in this way, such as when he / she was last dewormed. However, there is one caveat. The app is being developed by Royal Canin. In the nutritional advice section, you will quickly be motivated to choose this brand of dog/cat food in particular.

4. Dogo

Do you want to teach your dog tricks, but you don’t necessarily feel like a full course? Then Dogo might be something for you. This app is full of tricks for your four-legged friend. The tricks start simple, for example giving a paw and simply listening to the right name, but you can also turn it into half a circus.

It is extra nice that Dogo is quite extensive, but remains simple. For example, each trick is explained on the basis of different steps, so that you know exactly what to do at what time. There is also a clicker in Dogo with which you can keep track of when your dog has earned a treat. Has he/she mastered everything? Then you can take a full exam in Dogo.

5. Findster

Does your cat go to the hort regularly and are you missing him/her for a few days? Findster allows you to keep an eye on your cat anytime, anywhere. Unfortunately, you have to dig deep into your pocket for that. The Findster app is free, but you pay 150 euros for the associated tracker.

You then hang this light, handy box on the collar of your cat (or dog), after which you can view its exact location via your smartphone. In addition, you can set certain perimeters so that, for example, you receive a notification when your adventurous roommate leaves the garden, or is at the end of the street.
