A lot of users of the Google app on Android complain about the freezing of that application. During use, a pop-up may constantly pop up informing you that the app has crashed. This probably has something to do with a recently released update.
This problem does not seem to occur only in the Netherlands, but worldwide. Various users complain on different websites, including on Allestoringen.nl and Downdetector.com. In addition, there are plenty of complaints in the Google Play Store. There is now a long list of negative reactions and complaints, scattered on the internet.
Every user encounters the same problem. The Google app recently got an update and that update now seems to be the culprit. When an app on android crashes, a pop-up will appear with the message that the app crashes. The screen then shows three options: restart the app, close the app and send feedback. Restarting the app or shutting it down completely doesn’t seem to fix the problem. You do not have to actively use the app to see the notification; the Google app can also be used in the background.
Fix Google app problem?
The problem with the Google app will probably not be solved until Google releases a new update with a fix. Until then, we have to rely on what other people have discovered as a solution or the traditional and general solutions. For example, some users let you know that the notification no longer appears when you disable the app within the application settings. To do this, open the screen of App info (hold the app icon and select the option) and press the button Switch off. You can also go here for the option Forced to stop select. The app will then stop working until you manually turn it on or open it again, respectively.
Another solution might be to uninstall the updates for the app and reinstall them all. You can also arrange that via the screen of App info. After opening that screen, press the in the top right corner three dots and select your Uninstall updates. If you don’t install recently released updates, the app will work properly. Finally, there is the option to sign up for the beta program of the Google app. That version of the app has updates that won’t appear until much later for the average user, so the problem has probably already been solved. In the editors we use the beta version of the app and we don’t actually come across the message that the app keeps crashing.
Unfortunately, both options are not long-term solutions. Also, the solutions may not work for you, but that doesn’t stop you from trying them. Google is now aware of the problem and says it is working on a solution.
