Too many WhatsApp photos in your gallery app
WhatsApp is widely used for sending photos, GIFs and videos. That’s nice of course, but these files are also stored in your photo app or gallery app on your phone. For example, it can happen that all kinds of photos of the neighborhood barbecue are shared in a neighborhood app group, which you have not been to at all. Hide photos and videos from group conversations
WhatsApp has enabled displaying downloaded media by default. Do you want to download the photos and videos of certain group conversations, but don’t have them in your own photo collection? Then you can adjust this in the settings of WhatsApp or the (group) chat.
This prevents photos from being saved in all individual chats and groups

- Tap on Institutions (three dots at the top right) > chats > Media Settings
- Turn the feature on or off here
