Whoever thought that the ST madness Ford had gone to the head after the launch of a rear-wheel drive ST version of the Explorer, we can happily agree. The even bigger SUV brother of the Ford Explorer also seems to undergo the ST treatment. In these pictures we see the Expedition ST for the first time.

In the Netherlands we know ST versions of the Fiesta, Puma, Focus and Ranger. In addition, you can have various models sporty by going for the ST-Line versions. In the United States, Ford does not only supply an ST version of the Edge, but also of the 5.05 meter long Explorer, a car that you can only order in the Netherlands as a – more powerful – Plug-in Hybrid. Lifting a whopper of an SUV in a sports suit, Ford likes it. Looks like the big brother of the Explorer will also get an ST version.

Ford Expedition

This new set of spy photos shows a wrapped Expedition, a version that betrays its sporty genes with its red brake calipers, large alloy wheels and twin tailpipes. The current Expedition is an SUV that is no less than 5.33 meters long and weighs about 2.4 tons, which, unlike the Explorer, does not have a self-supporting body. The Expedition is on a modified version of the ladder frame of the F-150. The Expedition in its currently strongest form already has the 404 hp 3.5 V6 that we know from the Explorer ST. It is possible that the machine will be injected with about 50 hp extra for the Expedition ST. The introduction of the Expedition ST may coincide with the presentation of a model year update, since the current Expedition was already shown for the first time in 2017. We are also focusing on the arrival of a hybrid version.
