The Skoda Scala is just under three years old, which means that a facelifted version has already been worked on behind the drawing tables in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. The sketch work will not have lasted long, the revised Skoda Scala in these photos seems to hide little new under its sticker sheet.
Within the Volkswagen Group, Skoda is the brand that offers more space than comparable models within the group, but for a friendlier price. Is a Fabia too small for you, but an Octavia too big? Do not worry, the gap between Skoda has been filling since December 2018 with the Scala, which will soon be slightly modernized.
Although the Skoda Scala, like the Fabia and its sister models, is on the MQB-A0 platform, you could see the model as a down-to-earth Golf alternative, all the more so because the Scala is a conventional five-door hatchback more than the Octavia. At 4.36 meters, the Skoda Scala is also 8 centimeters longer than the current Volkswagen Golf and even has a slightly larger wheelbase. Yet the Scala manages to find few Dutch buyers. Since its launch in 2019, a total of 3,130 units have been sold. If the appearance of the Scala appears to play a factor in this, that will probably not change after the model’s facelift. Outwardly, the facelifted Scala hardly seems to change.
The partially wrapped Skoda Scala in these photos has camouflage patches on its butt and on its front. In any case, the lighting at the back does not seem to change, what exactly Skoda is planning with the headlights is not entirely clear. In any case, they do not change radically. Count on modified bumper work, some new paint colors and a slightly modernized interior. It is not yet known when Skoda will present the facelifted Scala, but that is undoubtedly not before the end of 2021.
