Microsoft’s OS Fall Creators Update brings a new feature for faster access to contacts.
With the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Microsoft is providing a practical solution to easier access to their favorite contacts. The My Contacts (or My People) function is in the form of a small icon in the taskbar, representing the silhouettes of two people.

By clicking on it, you quickly access communication applications (Skype, Mail, Outlook), but also your contacts. It is even possible to take your three favorite contacts and place them directly in the taskbar. Here’s how to do it.
Create or import contacts
- If the My People icon is not present in the taskbar, right-click on an empty area of the bar and check the option Show contacts on the taskbar.

- Click on the icon My contacts, then on the tab Applications and on the icon Contacts.

- Click on the icon menu located at the top left (three horizontal bars), then on the settings placed at the bottom left (toothed wheel).

- Click on Add an account and choose your email account (Outlook, Exchange, Google, Yahoo).

- Back in the main contacts window, click the + button to add contacts manually or import those from your accounts.
Place your favorite contacts in the taskbar
- Click the My People icon in the taskbar, then click Find and pin contacts.

- The list of contacts is then displayed and all you have to do is click on an entry for it to be pinned to the taskbar. Up to three contacts can be placed.
- To remove a contact from the bar, right click on the icon and choose the option Detach from taskbar.

Communicate faster
- Click on the contact’s icon in the taskbar to see the messages he has sent and click on the + button to send him a new message.

- To send a document or media file, drag and drop the file from the file explorer to the contact icon in the taskbar. A message window then opens automatically.

- Finally, you can control the notifications of contacts in the settings of Windows, by clicking on Customization, then Taskbar.

Go to the bottom of the window to access the three settings that control the display of contacts, the reception of notifications and the play of sounds.
