Translate web pages viewed in Safari for iOS to another language using an extension and never miss information that interests you in a foreign language.
Visiting a foreign site when you do not master the language can quickly become a headache. On iOS, it is possible to ask Safari to instantly translate the opened page. This requires an extension.
Installed in iOS 8, the extensions for mobile Safari are numerous, but remain little known. Presented as functions attached to the applications you install, they are hidden in the web browser’s share sheet, and are rarely highlighted in the presentation of applications on the App Store. This is particularly the case with Microsoft Translator.
1. Download Microsoft Translator
First, download Microsoft’s language translator, Microsoft Translator. The application is free, offers an offline translation mode, and above all includes an extension that can be called in Safari.

2. Configure the extension
Launch Microsoft Translator and go to settings by pressing the star wheel at the bottom right. Scroll through the options, enter the menu Translation language of Safari and choose the target language. Close the application.

3. Rearrange extensions in Safari
Launch Safari on your iPhone or iPad. Press the share button, then, scroll the last line to the left. Tap More, then locate Translator.
Make sure the extension is activated and, while holding your finger, press the handle represented by three superimposed lines, bring up the position of Translator in the list. Confirm your choice by pressing OK.

4. Translate a web page
Go to the page of the site you want to translate in Safari. Tap the share button, then select Translator.

A yellow banner indicating the progress of the translation appears while the page reloads in the translation language.
