Easily recover Windows 10 installation disk image in ISO format directly from your web browser.
Officially, Microsoft does not allow you to directly download the Windows 10 installation disk image from a web browser. Instead, the user is prompted to download a dedicated tool which then downloads the Windows ISO in order to create installation media. However, this only happens from a web browser installed on a Windows PC. When you visit its site, Microsoft knows you are doing this from a Windows computer, and therefore offers its media creation utility. However, there is a way around this system to be able to directly download the installation disk image of your operating system.
1. Prepare your web browser
To be able to download the Windows ISO, you must first prepare your web browser to make Microsoft believe that you are not viewing its website from a PC.
On Google Chrome, press the F12 key on your keyboard to activate developer mode. Then click on the Toggle Device Toolbar icon representing mobile devices (or press Ctrl + Shit + M).
In the main display pane, click the Responsive drop-down menu and select iPad Pro. If the display is too small, you can zoom to fit the zoom value expressed as a percentage.
On Firefox, press F12 to switch to developer mode and activate adaptive view by clicking on the icon shown for mobile devices.
Expand the drop-down menu at the top left and select a mobile device, iPad for example.
Finally, close the lower pane dedicated to developers by clicking on the cross provided for this purpose.
2. Go to the Microsoft site
Now that your web browser is ready, go to the Microsoft Support Creation Tool download page.
Logically, the Microsoft site does not display the usual page for obtaining the media creation tool, but offers to download the disk image directly.
3. Download the Windows disk image
Select the version of Windows 10 you want to get and click Confirm.
Then choose the Windows 10 installation language from the dedicated drop-down menu and validate by clicking on Confirm.
Click on the version of Windows 10 you want to recover (32-bit or 64-bit) to start downloading the disk image in ISO format.
